Misty highland meadows and tall escarpment forests make up much of Southern Ethiopia, but the region is also incised by the gaping kilometer-deep tectonic scar we know as the Great Rift Valley, its acacia-swathed floor dotted with beautiful lakes renowned for their diverse profusion of birds. The ethnic diversity of this astonishing region embraces modern cities such as Hawassa and Arba Minch, but also the walled hilltop warrens of the Konso Cultural Landscape, the remote tribes of South Omo, the singing wells of the desert-dwelling Borena, towering Dorze homesteads and thousand-year-old island monasteries.
Day 1: Addis Ababa
This day you will be driven to Awasa en route you will have a stopover for lunch at Castle Kuriftu Ziway Weyn House. The journey will continue after a little relaxation at the beautiful refreshing restaurant. Hawassa is a bustling Ethiopian town in the heart of the Great Rift Valley. It is the capital of the Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Region- a melting pot of over 50 distinct tribes all with their own traditions, languages, dress, dance, and culture. The town is built on the shores of beautiful Lake Hawassa and is overlooked by Tabor Mountain.
Day 02: Hawassa-Langano
After having breakfast, you will have a half-day leisure time in the resort. Lunch will be at Haile Resort then you will be embarking to Continue your drive to Lake Langano (one of the Rift Valley Lakes and the only lake that you can swim in). Upon arrival, you will check into a resort by the lakeside. In the evening you will have dinner at the lodge and stay the night there.
Day 03: Drive to Debre Zeit
In the early morning after having breakfast, drive to Debre Zeit upon arrival enjoy a day of leisure, relaxation, and adventure in the volcanic crater town of Debre Zeit. Retreat in an eco-system lush with green with greenery, abundant with birdlife surrounded by breathtaking lake views. You can partake in a wide array of activities including biking, trekking.
Day 04: Drive to Addis Ababa
In the morning after having breakfast you will drive back to Addis Ababa.

Day One: Arrive Addis Ababa (New Flower)
Arrive at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, you will be welcomed and assisted by our representative. The day activity starts with a city tour which includes National Museum (it contains the archaeological finding of human evolution skeleton date back to 3.2 million called Lucy), an ethnographic section of Ethiopian cultural heritage, and Trinity cathedral church. Drive to Debreziet for absolute leisure time at Kuriftu resort and spa.
Day Two: Debrezeit –Langano
Day Three: Langano –Yergalem
In the morning drive to Yergalem with a visit of Sidama people: there you will visit the coffee plantation and forest.
Day Four: Yergalem – Hawassa
In the morning drive to Hawassa, a beautiful town on the shore of Lake Hawassa would give you the chance to observe different aquatic birds and its famous fish market.
Day Five: Hawassa – Arbaminch
In the morning drive to Arbaminch on the way visit Dorze village, at Chencha (here we admire their houses, unique culture, cultivation of the false banana (Ensete) from where they extract their traditional bread (Kotcho), work of waves and culture).
Day Six: Arbamiinch – Addis Ababa
In the morning a boat trip on Chamo Lake for visit of Big African crocodiles and abundant bird specious, hippos, etc. In the afternoon fly back to Addis Ababa. You will have dinner at Ethiopian traditional restaurant; there you can see local music and dance. You will be transferred to the airport for departure.
Rift Valley Tours
Day 1: Addis Ababa
Arrive at Bole international airport and be met and assisted by ET-holidays representative. Depending on your arrival time, you will have Addis Ababa city tour. Addis Ababa sightseeing will include Mount Entoto for the panoramic view of Addis Ababa, National museum: home for the oldest and famous hominid fossil ‘Lucy’, Trinity cathedral church, Ethnographic museum the then palace of Emperor Hailesellase known as little Ethiopia and Merkato: the biggest open-air market in East Africa. En route, you will visit significant historical monuments of Addis Ababa.
Day 2: Addis Ababa – Adadi Mariam – Tiya –Ziway
After early breakfast, drive to the southeastern part of Ethiopia to visit Adadi Mariam. The church was established between the 12th and 13th centuries. And looks like the counterparts of Lalibela. It is surrounded by beautiful and enticing hills. Also lies along this road and it is the only rock-hewn church to exist as far south as this region. After you experience this rock church our next stop will be able to discover a lithic culture full of stele field carved at about the 16th century. After Lunch directly drives to Zeway. In the late afternoon admire the sunset over Lake Zeway.
Day 3: Ziway to Lake Langano
After early breakfast, we will have a boat trip on Lake Zeway to the nesting grounds of Tulu Simbro, a local Oromo word meaning Bird Island. For nature lovers, Ziway offers a fantastic variety of aquatic and arboreal bird species on its islands. The land surface of this island is small and swampy so people cannot stay in this area. This makes it the perfect home for several bird species.
After lunch, drive from Zeway to Lake Langano en route you will visit Abijatashala national park and visit some wild animal like ostrich, warthog and summering gazelle. In this national park, there is a spectacular viewpoint where you can admire the beauty of the two rift valley lakes separated by a natural barrier of a mountain.
Day 4: Langano to Addis Ababa
Early in the morning admire the sunset over Lake Langano and spend some quality time at the beach. The lake is a popular resort of swimming, aquatic sports, sunbathing, camping and bird-watching. The next stop on your tour will be at Debrezeit; home to several crater lakes and a popular weekend getaway. The town lies within a circle of six crater lakes, makes it a very popular resort with a pleasant climate. In the evening attend a folkloric dinner where you will have a chance to taste several national dishes and watch dances of the various ethnic groups of Ethiopia. The traditional coffee ceremony will also be served. Later you will be transferred to the airport for your departure.
